2. Community Sol's Immigration Program
This program supports displaced Indigenous peoples forced to migrate due to violence, land dispossession, and historical injustices. Its primary goal is to ensure the respect of our human and cultural rights, while challenging the narratives that wrongly categorize us as "Latinos," "Hispanics," or "Guatemalans."
Program Components:
-
Build local and national alliances to amplify our voices and actively engage in decision-making regarding immigration policies and Indigenous rights.
-
Advocate for the recognition of our realities in conferences, university meetings, and government agencies, fostering respect and understanding of our Indigenous identity.
Expected Impact:
Through this program, we aim to ensure displaced Indigenous peoples receive fair representation, access to appropriate services, and recognition of their identity, history, and culture within Abiayala (U.S.).
